An excellent micro, with decor including wood panelling and assorted tat, and a ceiling festooned with more pump clips than I have seen anywhere. A row of 8 handpumps across the little counter is mainly used to display the beers and ciders, which are served from a cool room stillage behind, augmented by a row of keg taps cunningly inserted in old petrol cans. An interesting selection of unusual beers was on offer; my Elephants School Porter in a Storm was nicely kept but I wasn't a fan of the taste. I have to mention the strange game being played by a couple of regulars involving counters being flicked across a revolving table - most peculiar. Definitely the best drinking place in the area.

I really like these micropubs, this one is up with the best I have visited. As is usual there is a single small room in a former shop premises, high tables each side to save space with benches and mismatched stools. Photos of motorbikes, racing cars and aircraft, onions and an old roadworkers lamp hang from the ceiling, hops and bottles on high shelves, there are games and jigsaws on top of a cabinet.
On cask, served from a rear room on gravity there were Gadd's Seasider, Kent Old Jamaica Stout, and also Session Pale, Pig and Porter Old No3, keykegs also in two thirds portions. Several cider boxes were also spotted.
A chap was walking round offering snacks of spinach and potato bhajis, another had some cheeses.
I had a nice chat with the owner who somehow sussed me as a pub fan, jolly decent bloke, he gave me a pub keyring. I'm easily bought, you get a rare 9 from maldenman.

Pretty much unchanged from PSM's review of over a year ago, the pump clip collection is slowly but steadily creeping over the ceiling, about a third of the way across, plenty of reading matter on the tables, beer and pub related as well as other, and still five beers on.This time the lineup was Electric Bear Persuasion 3.8%, Pig & Porter Love Medicine 6.0%,Arundle Castle 3.8%,Oakham Scarlet Macaw 4.4% and Whitstable Kentish Reserve 5.0%, prices ranged betwwen £3.40 and £4.00. A fine place well worthy of a visit.
